Who Is Yazdegard Bellihomji?
Well folks My name is Yazdegard Bellihomji, but I also answer to Yazdi or simply Yaz, you choose. I was born in Iran, shortly after, my parents escaped and moved to America.
Fast forwarding 17 years or so I found myself in a rough place. I was asked to leave my parents home, do to my rebellious ways. After I left I worked quite hard with a local landscaper making pretty good money for a 17 year old. Unfortunately I spent all my money and effort in using drugs. My motto was "bigger, better, faster, more!" As you can imagine this approach never ends well.
Two years later I met my x-wife, we got together for all the wrong reasons. I continued in my habit. At a certain point my Fiance had stopped using but I got progressively worse. My drug of choice was Heroin, of course that was not all, there was so much more that I used. After several years of using and also trying desperately to get off by any means necessary, my wife at the time had enough.
She told me that she wanted a Divorce! So my X-wife and my four year old daughter left me. This left me broken and ready for Jesus to come into my life and restore a sinful and destitute man into His workmanship.
At this point I had exhausted all my resources to get help. Rehabs, detoxes, methadone clinics,I even tried hypnosis to no avail. I cried out to Jesus in my desperation, He answered! He took me out of the miry clay, and set my foot upon a rock. Jesus came into my life and delivered me from every desire to ever use drugs and smoke, not only that, but He gave me a new life. I was Born Again!
A year after congregating at a local Church, I was burdened with bringing the Gospel to those who didn't know. As I grew in the Lord, My Pastor advised me of the Reliefbus. I started volunteering with them for about three years, before i was asked to come aboard. I now am serving as the New Jersey Outreach Director / Internship Director . In 2011 I begin my Journey in serving the poor and marginalized as an Urban Missionary and even more importantly a Disciple of Christ.
I am happily married going on four years with my lovely wife Edna and have two children Amber who is 14 and Malachi who is almost a year old. We consider it such a great privilege to serve the community alongside the Church.
